If you have to ask why anyone would buy a winch in the first place, you've probably never needed one. They come in handy all too often off-road, especially if your confidence is higher than your driving skill... like mine. Either way, they're a must for any 4x4 that sees serious trail use.

Remember to pay close attention to the capacity of each winch. The last thing you want when you're stuck in a mud pit is to find out you didn't get one with a strong enough cable.
